| Completely identical... | November 2011 |
For the first time in clarinet fabrication history, the fingering positions of the B- and A-clarinets could be made in an absolutely identical way.
How is this possible?...
Gerold clarinets have always been known for their very ergonomical structure... this long-standing experience has helped us adapt the ring flap distances of the B-clarinet to the ones of the A-clarinet without any noticeable difference.
Although everything else, i.e. the adaptation of all flap instrumentation positions, has not been a minor issue but achieved by means of the latest CAD technology, we have tackled this challenge in cooperation with the company Westcam.
A positive and surprising side effect has been the favorable impact on intonation and the improved sound characteristics especially in the Chalumeau register of the B-clarinet.
Sometimes, it just takes a bit of luck! |

| New tone-hole seat design... | November 2011 |
Tone-hole seat???... a tone-hole seat is the surface of the tone hole, i.e. the surface that is meant to seal the tone hole together with the flap cushion.
To fulfil this function in the best possible way, all tone-hole seats on Gerold clarinets have always been not only milled into the clarinet corpus but made with externally twisted grenadilla wood inlays closely attached to the outer wall of the corpus.
The advantages of this sophisticated design especially include reduced air output noises on the tone hole end, an improved air current conduct with a positive impact on the stability of intonation, as well as a totally smooth contact and/or sealing surface for the flap cushion.
In order to also reduce the contact noises of the cushion, the slightly bent contact surface of the tone-hole seat is from now on manufactured with a particular radius whereby the attenuating capacity of the cushion is substantially improved.
For all acousticians... this radius works, albeit only in the minimum range, like a small parabolic antenna dispersing the sound waves in infinite angles... this will certainly be no disadvantage either! |

| Glass fiber structure at the low-pitched e-f keywork | November 2011 |
A nylon material reinforced with glass fibers has proven to be very suitable for a durable, wear-resistant and especially oscillation-absorbent structure.
This high-tech material enables us to implement a precise, smooth and very quiet fixation for the only flap that is, due to its length, not positioned with continuous Niro screws.
Inseparably connected to a stable, corrosion-free flap screw by means of a press fit procedure, this material provides a simple but efficient solution to this technical problem.
By the way... our “workshop fly“ is enthusiastic about it as well ;-) |

| Does it always have to be "black"?... | November 2011 |
... how about a magnificent burgundy?...
...
or a discreet, elegant grey-green?
...
combined with smooth, silvery plush fabric?
Of course, design and quality, always fulfill our high standards.
In addition to all this, you will now find a very practical stretch network to attach lots of small and big items in the spacious storage compartment... in order to always keep your stuff in the right place!
The combination of red plush fabric and a black cordura coat will certainly remain a classic... but why not try something different from time to time?! |

| One side distance control |
May 2011 |
Simplicity is the ultimate satisfaction… two entire years of development have passed from the first idea up to the implementation stage... only then, the solution was simple enough for us!
The problem:
Wood is a living material; depending on humidity and temperature, the external diameter of the clarinet corpus expands or shrinks which has, of course, substantial consequences for the complex keywork of a clarinet.
Thanks to this simple structure, the movements of wood will no longer have a direct impact on the fit of the flap shafts, whereby sticking or loosening of the keywork is prevented even under extreme climatic conditions.
But there is even more... by means of two rubber rings, uncontrolled detachment of the flap screws is prevented. In addition, substantial absorption of the flap noises comes in pair with the prevention of disturbing vibration transmissions between keywork and wooden corpus! |

|
This comes naturally for our professional Amadeus de luxe models. It is of course also available as an optional add-on for our Modesto de luxe models! |
| Personal resonant wood |
May 2011 |
Ambitious violin manufacturers have already been doing it for centuries...
each wood has its own sound characteristics; a sound which should be in harmony with your personal vibrations.
Out of a variety of finest grenadilla woods, we help you choose your very personal resonant wood.
You will be surprised how many tones you can choose from during this ritual.
A ritual with the unique possibility of getting in touch with the "soul" of your personal GEROLD CLARINET. |
 |
| Concave or convex? |
May 2011 |
What was it again? Concave, convex or the other way round? It doesn't matter since it just has to be round!
The internal hole of a clarinet is mostly cylindrical. On its upper and/or lower end, however, it is conically rejuvenating and/or conically opening.
To reproduce acoustic waves as naturally as possible, these areas will be drilled parabolically, i.e. with a slight radius, for all GEROLD CLARINETS from 2011 onwards.
For our professional model Amadeus de luxe, we even go a further step ahead; all sound holes are concavely undercut and/or open convexly towards the outside. Or is it the other way round? Well, that remains our business secret!
The only important and equally fascinating aspect is the fact that these tiny radii ensure a unique softness, smoothness as well as opulence and resonance of the sound.
Rony Moser, solo clarinet player at the Qatar Symphonic Orchestra, has called this unique sound a "creamy" sound... with this word, he got right to the heart of the concept! |

May 2011 |
More than 8 years ago, when our company was still new, a certain pioneer mindset was necessary to opt for our clarinets! Florian is one of those pioneer customers!

| The new GEROLD-KLARINETTEN clarinet case |
Ocotber 2010 |
Finally it is here!
In cooperation with the German company Winter, that has been producing high-quality handmade cases for decades, we managed to develop a clarinet case that meets the high standards of GEROLD CLARINETS. A very light, impact-resistant shell structure with a high-quality, robust Cordura coating ensures a very pleasant everyday use over a long period of time. |
 |
Backpack straps and an air-cushioned shoulder strap are natural benefits of this clarinet case.
In the interior, there is much space for your B and A clarinet, 5 clarinet barrels, 2 mouthpieces, a small storage compartment as well as a tailor-made slot for your cork grease.
In the very spacious music notes case, you will find additional storage space. Three brackets for pens, screwdrivers or similar objects are standard.
Your GEROLD CLARINET will be safe and well-stored in smooth, tailor-made foam layers (cut in a water jet procedure) coated with the finest crashed silk.
A big compartment for music notes at the front, as well as a smaller one at the rear, offer you enough space for music notes, booklets, etc.
The elaborately embroidered company logo harmoniously rounds off the classically pure but modern design of this clarinet case by GEROLD CLARINETS. |

| Satined mechanism and clarinet corpus |
Ocotber 2010 |
Originally, it was an unexpected side effect...
The silver-plated mechanism is satined with microscopically small ceramic balls in a sandblasting procedure.
The goal was to enter new paths of design.
Besides the elegant, classical appearance, we have noticed with surprise that this surface has a very pleasant, smooth and warm texture.
However, the biggest advantage consists in the smoother sliding properties, which is especially positive for sliding between the flap combination and in particular for the little fingers.
Similar to the lotus plant, this effect derives from the smaller surface that is touched by the fingers.
This microscopic surface architecture also minimizes adhesion of dirt particles and eliminates unpleasant fingerprints.
According to your personal taste, you can combine a satined mechanism with a shiny or a satined clarinet corpus.
If you wish to keep the classical, silvery gloss of the mechanism, you can also choose the discreet EASY SLIDE version, which only comes with satined sliding surfaces of the little finger claps.
Of course, it is also possible to upgrade your GEROLD clarinet with this optical, as well as haptic innovation during a general overhaul. |

| Clarisonus wins ClariArts
2010 |
Ocotber 2010 |
Clarisonus participated in the clarinet ensemble competition “ClariArts” on September 3 and 4, 2010, during the clarinet festival “ClariArts” in Hartberg/Steiermark.
Forty participants, among others from Slovenia, Germany, Spain and Japan, participated in the festival. The competition included three clarinet quartets and the Clarisonus quintet.
After two successful competition rounds, Andreas Knapp, Sabrina Reheis, Martin Rainer, Verena Trockenbacher and Michael Wurzer could convince with their overall program. Especially the compositions by Martin Rainer and Andreas Knapp, as well as the arrangements invented by the ensembles impressed the high-profile jury consisting of Prof. Dir. Josef Pöttler, Cyanthia Liao and Wolfgang Meyer (Germany).
The entire GEROLD-KLARINETTEN company team congratulates the Clarisonus quintet for this great success!
